Laughter is not at all a bad beginning for a friendship;and it is far the best ending for one.

Last night, I was up into the wee hours of the morning reading a book and my tongue began to itch.  So I scratched it with my teeth.  Yet, the more I chewed on my tongue, the more it itched and, because I was so tired and my brain wasn't functioning properly, I continued to scratch/chew.  This was not my finest hour.

The result is that it looks like I have leprosy of the tongue.  That's right, folks-- I bruised my tongue due to vigorous late night chewing.

I'm lame.

Nothing phenomenal to report.  I'm home though, and that's something.  Mostly, I've been spending time with Brandon and the family although I did have some Japanese exchange students at my house for a few days.  That was actually sort of fun as it gave me an opportunity to search out the cool things about Minneapolis.  They spent a hell of a long time standing on Lake Minnetonka though-- they had never stood on a frozen lake before and wanted to take as many pictures of their feet on the ice as they possibly could.

I have the prettiest new shoes in all the land, by the way.  If you see me on Saturday, try to wish me a happy New Year.  I know it'll be hard as you'll be so dazzled by my shoes,  but make a good go of it, eh?

I hope you're all having a lovely holiday season and that your New Year's is spectacular.  Give me a call if you're feeling up to it.

Christmas is coming far too quickly.  Good thing everyone I know is so easy to shop for.

I've turned my nun/professor against me and so not only will she fail me, but she'll send me to hell for good measure.  Damn.

Happy Saturday!

PS-- I'll be on campus throughout finals week without a whole lot to do so if you wanted to come up and visit me sometime before the 20th, that'd be a great idea.

Happy anniversary to me!

What a great weekend!  (I know it's been over a month since my last update but I'm not going to begin to try and tell you what's been going on.  I'm focusing on the recent past.  It's easier to manage.)

I went to visit the lovely Katie on Friday down in Northfield.  We spent some good times with Thomas too.  At one point, I saw the card game "Skip-Bo" on a table and proceeded to sing the song "Skip-Bo to my limbo."  The actual words, as I was told, are "skip to my loo."  I was horribly confused.  But it was an excellent evening and one that should probably be repeated.

Then, on Saturday, I returned to my room around 2:00 to find that my lovely fellow had replaced my dying roses with new ones.  (I think he fancies me.)  My parents came up for their dinner of gratitude at 5:00 and Patty accompanied them.  See, a few weeks ago, my parents rented a cabin for my girl friends and I so that we could have a girls' weekend off campus and, to thank them, we invited them up to St. Cloud to engage in an excursion to Space Aliens Arcade.  It was a fabulous time and, while I bruised one of my fingers from playing a game too vigorously (I was in competition with my dad), this was an experience that also needs to be repeated.  My family is adorable, by the way.  Crazy, granted, but adorable.  Did you know that for Thanksgiving we will be dressing up like pilgrims and indians?  Patty commented that we don't make a big enough deal of holidays anymore and so Mom decided that we will host Thanksgiving dinner in a festive manner: in costume.  The relatives will each get either a pilgrim hat or a feather to wear during the meal.

After Space Aliens, I saw "A Midsummer Night's Dream" here on campus and it was absolutely fantastic.  Then I watched some "Newsies" with some friends.  What a rocking good time.

I also decided that I will be studying abroad next fall in Galway, Ireland.  I've added a minor to my schedule so that I am now an English/Comm double major with a minor in Gender and Women's Studies.  I already had four of the six courses I needed for the minor so, really, why not get it?  It'll just take a bit more effort and I think it'd be cool to have.

Tonight there was a Spa Night for sophomore women on campus.  I got a free manicure and paraffin hand wax.  Most excellent.  My hands feel like butter.  There was a chocolate fountain there and I took much joy in dipping various foodstuffs into the fountain.  At my next event (whatever that may be), I will definitely have a chocolate fountain.  It's both classy and delicious.  Mm.

That's all for now.  Have a lovely day, y'all!
